Munkkiniemi Manor
Munkkiniemi Manor is located in the district of Munkkiniemi in Helsinki, Finland. The main building was built at the beginning of the 19th century and is currently owned by KONE Corporation.
The restoration of the doors at Munkkiniemi Manor, a prestigious building protected by the Finnish Act on the Protection of Buildings, is one of our finest references. The manor has a long and glorious history, and during its renovation in 2015, the doors were embedded with electronic components and automation. Despite this, they have the genuine feeling of an old door through which cavalry captains, barons and high-ranking army officials have walked over the years.
“How often does a carpenter get to work on a building by the famous Carl Ludvig Engel? This was, again, a project in which the importance of respecting history was self-evident. Our success is measured not by what kind of mark we leave but by how invisible it is. Everything should be as it was – only a little bit better,” says Jussi Sutela.
